ACP agent demo. The purchase stayed inside the conversation.

A working agent that shops over ACP, the Agentic Commerce Protocol from OpenAI and Stripe: product feed in, checkout handoff out, end to end.

Agentic Commerce Protocol · OpenAI + Stripe

What we set out to prove

OpenAI and Stripe introduced the Agentic Commerce Protocol to connect conversational product discovery with merchant-owned checkout and payment. We implemented the protocol to test the complete purchase flow, building an end-to-end agent that takes a shopper from browsing to a confirmed order without leaving the conversation.

What the agent does

We built and tested a conversational shopping agent against the Agentic Commerce Protocol. The agent browses a structured product catalog, helps the shopper choose, builds the cart and completes checkout through the merchant's commerce stack. The merchant remains the merchant of record and the authoritative source for the order.

What moved through the protocol

The product feed made the catalog legible to the agent. A stateful checkout session carried the selected items, buyer and fulfillment information. At payment, a scoped, single-use credential let the merchant charge through its existing processor without exposing reusable card data to the agent.

What the implementation established

The conversation can remain the shopper's interface while the merchant continues to validate price, inventory, fulfillment and payment. The agent coordinates the transaction flow; the retailer's systems still decide whether the order can be completed and return the final confirmation.

How this helps our clients

The working flow gives us a practical way to assess whether a retailer's catalog, checkout APIs and payment architecture can support ACP. We can identify what already maps cleanly, what needs transformation and which controls must remain visible to the shopper before implementation begins.
