Agentic commerce space mapping. The whole space, as a graph we can question.
SAGE · Internal tooling
Why we built it
Agentic commerce involves a lot of parties, and the connections between them change quickly. A new assistant adds checkout, a platform announces protocol support, a payment provider launches agent tooling. A static list goes stale within weeks, and it cannot show how the pieces connect. We wanted a map we could keep current and ask questions of.
What is in the graph
SAGE is a knowledge graph. Its entities are the assistants and agents shoppers use, the protocols and standards they transact over, the commerce platforms merchants run on, the payment providers and card networks, and the vendors that sit between them. The value is in the connections: which assistant speaks which protocol, which platform supports it, and which payment rails sit behind it.
How it stays current
New information comes in through automated ingestion of news, documentation and announcements. Nothing enters the map on ingestion alone: the team reviews each addition before it becomes part of the graph.
How we use it
SAGE answers questions in plain language as well as showing the graph visually, so the team can ask how two parts of the space relate and then see the connection. We use it in our internal research, and in client assessments to show a merchant where their platform and payment setup sit, and which protocols and assistants can reach them from there.
How this helps our clients
A merchant's options depend on the stack they already run. With the map, we can start an assessment from that stack and show which paths to AI shoppers are open today, which need work, and which are not available yet, based on the current state of the space rather than a guess.
